Presents a Luncheon Program
DR-CAFTA: The United States-Dominican Republic- Central
America Free Trade Agreement. A roundtable with the Ambassadors
The recent approval of DR-CAFTA opens a market of more
than 45 million consumers in a region with a combined GDP of $91.6 billion
and creates the possibility of increasing the current export level thereof
of $15.7 billion in U.S. products. In spite of the seemingly huge
opportunities brought about by DR-CAFTA there is little knowledge of how it
will work, what tangible benefits it presents to American businesses and
what business obstacles remain to be removed. Our panel of Ambassadors from
the DR-CAFTA countries will talk about the good and the bad of doing
business within the framework of the agreement. Issues of trade, investment,
intellectual property, dispute resolution and labor will be explored by the
panelist in a lively roundtable format.
